Apex PD's website also links out to a Police-to-Citizen portal, but that portal returned no readable content during this review, so what a resident can file online, and which incident types it accepts, remains unconfirmed. The pages that did open named no resident security-camera registry program.
Building Inspections & Permits in Apex
New wiring run for an exterior security camera counts as residential electrical work, and Apex's own Building Inspections & Permitting office signs off on it rather than Wake County. The town holds this inspection authority directly instead of contracting it out to the county.
Wiring a House Built Around 2008
The typical Apex home standing today was built around 2008, based on a secondary estimate that reflects occupied units only. Just over two-thirds of the town's housing units — 69.3% — were built in 2000 or later.
Houses from that period with two stories confine the attic to the top floor alone, which means a security camera near a ground-floor eave requires routing its cable down through an interior wall or closet rather than running it across an attic. A single-story house from the same era avoids that problem — the attic covers the whole footprint, so one attic-access point reaches any exterior soffit location.
