The Town Inspects Its Own Electrical Work

Wiring Into A House Built Around 1999
Cary's occupied homes have a 1999 median build year, and 48.7 percent of all housing units in town went up in 2000 or later. A late-1990s house puts its attic only over the top floor, so a ground-level camera's wiring has to drop down an interior wall or run along a baseboard, instead of coming straight from above. Framing crews from that era ran low-voltage phone and cable lines before the drywall closed the walls, so a new security camera often taps into a path that is already there.
